Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our dynamic team in Brooklyn, NY. Key Responsibilities
- Perform various surgical procedures, including soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency surgeries.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-surgical examinations and post-operative care.
- Provide advanced diagnostic interpretation, including radiographs, ultrasound, and laboratory results.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal care.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, surgical procedures, and prognoses.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in veterinary surgery.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior veterinary staff as needed.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for or current licensure to practice veterinary medicine in New York State.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience performing surgical procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of soft tissue and basic orthopedic surgical techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both clients and colleagues.
- Strong commitment to high-quality patient care and client service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification or residency training in small animal surgery.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging (e.g., CT, MRI).
- Experience in emergency and critical care medicine.
- Proficiency with veterinary practice management software.
