Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable Hospital Cleaners to join our essential services team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. This full-time position offers stable employment within a critical environment, playing a crucial role in infection control and patient well-being. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across various hospital areas, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for all. Full training will be provided to ensure you meet our rigorous healthcare cleaning standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitisation of patient rooms, common areas, offices, and other hospital facilities.
- Follow strict infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Handle and dispose of waste, including general waste, recycling, and clinical waste, according to established procedures.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and hand sanitiser.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanour while interacting with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.

- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning role, particularly in a healthcare or commercial setting
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one
- Understanding of basic infection control principles
