Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Freight Handler to join our team in Warrnambool. This full-time position offers consistent morning work, Monday to Friday, providing a great work-life balance. As a Freight Handler, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of various types of freight within our depot, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods. This is a hands-on role that requires physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and containers
- Sort, scan, and stage freight accurately for dispatch or storage
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts (if licensed), and other material handling equipment as required
- Perform general warehouse duties, including maintaining a clean and organised work area
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures
- Manual handling of various freight items, including lifting and moving goods
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy items safely
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to consistent attendance
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate freight handling and scanning
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to interpret labels and complete paperwork
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or freight handling role (6 months+)
- Current Australian Forklift (LF) Licence
- Experience with freight scanning systems
- Knowledge of local Warrnambool and surrounding areas
