Job Description
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in people’s lives? Uniting Vic.Tas is seeking compassionate and dedicated In-Home Respite Assistants to join our growing team in Geelong. This crucial role provides essential support to primary carers by offering planned short-term breaks, ensuring the well-being of both the person being cared for and their care network. We offer flexible hours to suit your lifestyle, with a high demand for committed individuals who can provide exceptional care and companionship within the comfort of our clients’ homes. Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate and person-centered support to clients in their homes.
- Engage clients in social activities, hobbies, and community outings as appropriate.
- Assist with light household tasks to maintain a comfortable living environment.
- Monitor and report any changes in the client's condition or needs to the supervisor.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients during respite periods.
- Adhere to care plans and organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and client interactions.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated empathy and a genuine desire to assist others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Current Australian Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check and Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a caregiving, support worker, or respite role.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Experience supporting individuals with diverse needs, including dementia or disability.
