Job Description
As a Risk Management Director, you will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring financial and operational risks across various business lines within RBC. This critical role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. You will lead a team, develop robust risk strategies, and provide expert guidance to senior leadership to ensure the bank’s continued stability and resilience. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and quantification of various risks including credit, market, operational, reputational, and strategic risks.
- Lead the risk appetite definition and monitoring processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Provide expert advice and challenge to business units on risk-related matters and new product initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal risk policies.
- Prepare and present regular risk reports and insights to senior management and the Board.
- Foster a strong risk culture throughout the organization through training and awareness programs.
- Manage and mentor a team of risk professionals, fostering their growth and development.
Required Skills
- Minimum 8 years of experience in risk management within the financial services industry.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- In-depth knowledge of financial products, markets, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSFI guidelines).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate complex risk concepts into clear, actionable insights.
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or PRM (Professional Risk Manager).
- Experience with advanced risk modeling techniques and software.
- Previous experience managing cross-functional risk projects.
- Familiarity with global risk management standards and best practices.
