Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Dietetic Assistant to join our busy and supportive Nutrition and Dietetics Department. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about health and nutrition, looking to start their career in a clinical setting. You will play a crucial role in assisting our qualified dietitians in providing essential nutritional care to patients across various wards and outpatient settings. Full training will be provided to help you develop the necessary skills to excel in this rewarding position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute nutritional supplements and special feeds as prescribed by dietitians.
- Collect and record dietary information from patients under supervision.
- Support patients with meal choices and provide basic nutritional advice as directed.
- Maintain stock levels of dietary products and equipment, ensuring safe storage.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.
- Liaise with ward staff, catering teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in departmental meetings and continuous professional development.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic IT literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- A genuine interest in nutrition, health, and patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service environment (voluntary or paid) is beneficial but not essential.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or a related field.
