Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Trainee Forensic Lab Assistant. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for candidates eager to begin a career in forensic science within a supportive government setting. No prior experience in a forensic lab is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. The successful candidate will assist forensic scientists and technicians in various laboratory tasks, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our forensic sections. This role offers a unique chance to learn the foundational aspects of forensic science operations, evidence handling, and laboratory protocols while contributing directly to public safety and justice.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist forensic scientists and technicians with the preparation, handling, and analysis of biological and chemical samples.
• Maintain meticulous records of samples, reagents, and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
• Perform routine laboratory clean-up, maintenance, and sterilization of equipment and workstations.
• Monitor and manage laboratory supplies, assisting with inventory control and ordering procedures.
• Aid in the proper packaging, labeling, and storage of evidence and samples.
• Strictly adhere to all laboratory safety protocols, quality control procedures, and chain-of-custody requirements.
• Transport samples, documents, and equipment between various laboratory sections as needed.
• Learn and apply basic forensic laboratory techniques and instrumentation under direct supervision.
• Participate in mandatory training programs and continuing education as required.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Strong organizational skills and an exceptional attention to detail.
• Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with standard office software.
• Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
