Job Description
Are you passionate about design and eager to kickstart your career in drafting? Jacobs Engineering Group is seeking a highly motivated Junior Draftsperson (Cadet) to join our dynamic team in Glenorchy, Tasmania. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, offering a structured mentorship program focused on developing expertise in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Revit. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to real-world engineering and architectural projects from day one. Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in a structured mentorship program to learn drafting principles and software applications (AutoCAD, Revit).
- Assist senior draftspersons in preparing and modifying technical drawings, plans, and blueprints.
- Develop an understanding of project specifications, standards, and industry best practices.
- Support the team with documentation, archiving, and project administrative tasks.
- Conduct basic research and gather data as required for drafting assignments.
- Collaborate effectively with team members across various disciplines.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and strong willingness to learn new software and technical concepts.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A passion for design, architecture, or engineering.
- Some exposure to technical drawing or design principles (e.g., in high school or personal projects) is a plus, but not essential.
- Enrollment in or completion of relevant VET qualifications (e.g., Certificate II/III in Engineering, Building Design) will be highly regarded.
