Job Description
H-E-B’s urban farming initiative in San Antonio is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Urban Farm Harvest Assistant. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who love working outdoors, enjoy physical activity, and are eager to contribute to providing fresh, sustainable produce to our local community. No prior farming experience is required; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training. You’ll play a vital role in the daily operations of our urban farm, focusing primarily on harvesting crops, ensuring quality, and preparing produce for distribution. Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily harvesting tasks for various crops following established protocols.
- Carefully inspect produce for quality, sorting and packaging according to standards.
- Assist with post-harvest activities, including washing, drying, and preparing produce for transport.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of harvesting areas, tools, and equipment.
- Learn and apply basic farm safety guidelines and sustainable farming practices.
- Collaborate effectively with farm supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals.
- Report any crop issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to the farm location for early morning shifts.
