Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Medicare Service Assistant to join our team in Renmark. This face-to-face role is crucial for providing direct support and assistance to members of the public regarding their Medicare inquiries and services. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, helping them navigate Medicare processes, access benefits, and resolve issues with professionalism and care. This position requires strong communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to public service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face assistance to clients with Medicare inquiries, claims, and general service needs.
- Educate clients on Medicare services, eligibility criteria, and digital service options.
- Process Medicare claims and update client records accurately and efficiently.
- Assist clients with online Medicare account setup and troubleshooting.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Refer complex cases to senior staff or specialized departments as appropriate.
- Maintain a welcoming and professional environment for all visitors.
- Adhere to all Services Australia policies, procedures, and service standards.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for face-to-face interactions.
- Strong customer service orientation with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and data entry.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Australian citizenship is required for employment with Services Australia.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or public-facing role, particularly within a government agency or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with Medicare services or Australian social security systems.
- Experience working with diverse client groups.
- A Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or a related field.
