Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Wolverhampton. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our complex network infrastructure. This position requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of network protocols and technologies. You will work within a fast-paced environment, ensuring network stability, security, and optimal performance for our diverse range of services.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance and availability, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Perform regular network troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve complex network problems.
- Implement security measures to protect network infrastructure from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of network upgrades and expansions.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
- Experience with network monitoring tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Familiarity with network security principles and firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with Wi-Fi technologies and wireless network management.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for network automation.
- Experience with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
