Job Description

Wirral Council is looking for a dedicated and vigilant School Crossing Patrol to join our community safety team in Birkenhead. This vital role involves ensuring the safe passage of children and pedestrians across designated roads, particularly during school pick-up and drop-off times. You will be a friendly and visible presence in the community, promoting road safety and contributing to the well-being of our youngest residents. Full training and uniform will be provided for this important part-time position, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about local community safety, regardless of prior experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely stop traffic to allow children and other pedestrians to cross the road at designated points.
  • Maintain a vigilant watch for approaching vehicles and assess road conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and motorists to ensure safe crossings.
  • Adhere to all road safety regulations and council procedures.
  • Wear provided uniform and maintain a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the relevant authorities.
  • Be present at the designated crossing point during specified school hours, regardless of weather conditions.
