Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Medicine Doctor to join our dynamic and busy Emergency Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries. You will play a crucial role in the initial assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral of patients, ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient safety are maintained. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the department’s continuous improvement and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Lead and supervise junior medical staff, ensuring appropriate guidance and training.
- Participate in the on-call rota, managing acute medical emergencies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including nurses, allied health professionals, and other medical specialties.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.
- Participate in departmental audit, research, and quality improvement activities.
- Engage in continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
Required Skills
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Significant experience in Emergency Medicine at a senior registrar or consultant level.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
- Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound clinical decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership and teaching abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) or equivalent (CESR) in Emergency Medicine.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM).
- Experience in medical education or formal teaching qualifications.
- Involvement in clinical governance or quality improvement projects.
- Evidence of research or publications in Emergency Medicine.
