Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Neurologist to join our dedicated team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This full-time, on-site position offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert neurological care within a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of neurological conditions, working across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, patient education, and the ongoing development of our neurology services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with neurological disorders.
  • Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and on-call rotas as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including neurophysiology, neurosurgery, stroke services, and allied health professionals.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and contribute to their training and development.
  • Engage in clinical audit, research, and service development to continually enhance patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with trust policies.
  • Adhere to professional standards and guidelines set by the General Medical Council (GMC).

Required Skills

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
  • CCT in Neurology (or equivalent) awarded by the time of appointment.
  • Extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of neurological conditions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sub-specialty interest and experience in a particular area of Neurology (e.g., Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis).
  • Experience in medical education or teaching.
  • Evidence of participation in research or quality improvement projects.
  • Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD).
