Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Neurologist to join our dedicated team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This full-time, on-site position offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert neurological care within a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of neurological conditions, working across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, patient education, and the ongoing development of our neurology services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with neurological disorders.
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and on-call rotas as required.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including neurophysiology, neurosurgery, stroke services, and allied health professionals.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and contribute to their training and development.
- Engage in clinical audit, research, and service development to continually enhance patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with trust policies.
- Adhere to professional standards and guidelines set by the General Medical Council (GMC).
Required Skills
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
- CCT in Neurology (or equivalent) awarded by the time of appointment.
- Extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of neurological conditions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-specialty interest and experience in a particular area of Neurology (e.g., Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis).
- Experience in medical education or teaching.
- Evidence of participation in research or quality improvement projects.
- Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD).
