Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Exhaust Fitter to join our busy team in Newcastle upon Tyne. As an Exhaust Fitter, you will be responsible for the inspection, removal, and installation of exhaust systems on a wide range of vehicles. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers’ vehicles are safe and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and replace vehicle exhaust systems according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform general vehicle maintenance tasks as required, including fitting other related components.
  • Utilise diagnostic equipment to identify faults and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards and within designated timeframes.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service, explaining work performed clearly and professionally.

Required Skills

  • Proven mechanical aptitude and experience working with vehicles.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • A valid UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience specifically as an Exhaust Fitter or in a similar automotive fitting role.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a fast-fit or garage environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
