Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety (HSE) Manager to lead our safety initiatives at our Moose Jaw facility. This critical role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, as well as international best practices. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in manufacturing safety, a strong understanding of HSE management systems, and a passion for fostering a proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial (Saskatchewan) and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of preventative measures.
- Provide HSE training and orientation to new and existing employees, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Manage WCB claims, return-to-work programs, and maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
- Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics, preparing regular reports for senior management.
- Collaborate with all departments to integrate safety into daily operations and project planning.
- Stay updated on new HSE legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
- Oversee the management of hazardous materials and waste disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Health & Safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industry setting.
- Solid understanding of Saskatchewan OH&S Regulations and other relevant Canadian HSE legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective HSE management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Ability to obtain or possess legal authorization to work in Canada (sponsorship may be considered for exceptional candidates).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent.
- Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Experience working with a diverse, international workforce.
