Job Description

WSP Canada is seeking a skilled and dedicated Acoustical Consultant to join our dynamic team in Terrebonne, Quebec. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in acoustics, noise, and vibration to contribute to a diverse range of projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality acoustical assessments, designs, and recommendations for various clients, including municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. We offer Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) support for qualified international candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive acoustical studies, including noise and vibration monitoring, measurement, and data analysis.
  • Developing and reviewing acoustical models using specialized software to predict noise levels and impacts.
  • Preparing detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Designing noise control solutions and advising on acoustical specifications for buildings, infrastructure projects, and industrial facilities.
  • Providing expert consultation and recommendations on environmental noise assessments, building acoustics, and industrial noise control.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Participating in site visits, inspections, and field work as required.
  • Staying abreast of industry best practices, technologies, and regulatory changes in acoustics.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in acoustical consulting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in acoustical modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, Odeon, SoundPLAN).
  • Strong understanding of acoustical principles, noise measurement techniques, and relevant standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, local municipal bylaws).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Quebec or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Experience with specific noise control solutions for industrial or transportation projects.
  • Proficiency in French, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate with local clients and stakeholders in Quebec.
  • Experience with vibration analysis and mitigation strategies.
