Job Description
Nordstrom is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Clothing Alteration Assistant to join our alterations team in Norfolk, VA. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about fashion and precision, eager to learn the craft of garment alterations. You will work closely with our experienced tailors and seamstresses, contributing to the high standards of quality and customer satisfaction that define Nordstrom. Full training will be provided to ensure you develop the necessary skills to excel in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced tailors and seamstresses with various alteration tasks, including marking, basting, and pressing garments.
- Execute basic alterations such as hemming, mending seams, and replacing buttons under supervision.
- Prepare garments for alterations by unpicking existing seams or dismantling sections as required.
- Conduct quality checks on altered garments to ensure they meet Nordstrom’s exacting standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and efficient stocking of the alteration workspace.
- Manage the intake and dispatch of alteration orders, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers, addressing basic alteration inquiries and occasionally assisting during fittings.
- Commit to continuous learning and adhere strictly to Nordstrom’s established quality guidelines and alteration procedures.
