Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic digital team in Derby. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical systems and infrastructure. You will apply a software engineering mindset to operations, focusing on automation, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
- Develop and implement automation for deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks.
- Monitor system performance and availability, establishing robust alerting and incident response protocols.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, implementing preventative measures.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure reliability is built into the software development lifecycle.
- Manage and optimize cloud resources, ensuring cost-efficiency and security.
- Implement and enforce security best practices across our infrastructure.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in operational processes and tools.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Strong experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect).
- Experience with database administration (SQL and NoSQL).
