Job Description
We are seeking compassionate and skilled Psychiatric / Mental Health Nurses to join our dynamic team in Preston. You will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for service users with diverse mental health needs, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments, for service users.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with service users, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Administer medication safely and effectively, monitoring for side effects and ensuring adherence to protocols.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, support, and education to service users and their families.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and concise patient records, adhering to NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
- Act as a named nurse, coordinating care and advocating for service users' needs.
- Participate in clinical supervision, continuing professional development, and team meetings.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating calm and professional conduct.
- Contribute to the positive culture of the ward/team, promoting recovery-oriented practice and patient safety.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Mental Health Nurse (or eligible for registration).
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in a mental health setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of mental health legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Ability to undertake comprehensive mental health assessments and formulate care plans.
- Proven ability to manage challenging situations and maintain professional boundaries.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specific mental health specialities (e.g., acute inpatient, community, older adults).
- Evidence of post-registration training relevant to mental health nursing.
- Experience working within the NHS.
