Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Trainee Social Worker Assistants. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity, fully funded by the government, designed for those passionate about social care but without prior experience. You will receive comprehensive training and support to develop the essential skills and knowledge required to assist qualified Social Workers in delivering high-quality care and support services to vulnerable individuals and families within the Sunderland community. Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and practical support to qualified Social Workers.
- Assist with record-keeping, report writing, and maintaining case files accurately and confidentially.
- Support service users with practical tasks, under the direct supervision of a Social Worker, ensuring their well-being and safety.
- Attend and actively participate in all mandatory training and development sessions.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with service users, their families, and other professionals.
- Contribute to assessments and care plans by gathering relevant information as directed.
- Adhere to all council policies, procedures, and safeguarding protocols.
Required Skills
- A genuine interest in social care and a desire to help others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Willingness to learn and commit to a structured training program.
- Basic IT literacy (Microsoft Office applications).
- No prior experience in social work or care is required, as full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above.
- Experience in customer service or roles involving direct public interaction.
- An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding principles (though training will be given).
