Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Endocrinologist to join our dynamic medical team at NHS Grampian. The successful candidate will provide specialist expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary conditions, and metabolic bone disease. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings, and participating in the on-call rota. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders.
  • Manage both inpatient and outpatient endocrinology services, including clinics and ward rounds.
  • Participate in the general medical on-call rota as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including diabetes nurses, dieticians, radiologists, and surgeons.
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff, including registrars and residents.
  • Contribute to clinical audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in research activities relevant to endocrinology and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with NHS policies.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and revalidation activities.

Required Skills

  • GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine, or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in managing a broad range of endocrine conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD) in a relevant field.
  • Experience in medical education and teaching.
  • Evidence of research activity and publications.
  • Participation in national or regional specialist committees.
