Job Description
Are you eager to kickstart a rewarding career in the skilled trades? Marystown Plumbing & Heating Services is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Plumber’s Mate / Helper to join our team in Marystown, NL. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with little to no experience to begin their apprenticeship journey, learn from experienced professionals, and develop valuable skills. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, hardworking, and passionate about learning the plumbing trade from the ground up. Full training and mentorship will be provided, setting you on a path to becoming a licensed plumber.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed plumbers with installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks on various plumbing systems.
- Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
- Prepare work areas by setting up equipment, ensuring safety, and cleaning up debris.
- Learn to identify and use various plumbing tools and materials correctly.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies diligently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and workspace.
- Help with basic tasks such as cutting pipe, fetching parts, and general site support.
- Actively participate in training and mentorship programs.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor on job sites.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn a skilled trade.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and safely.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to our shop.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or construction environment (even if not plumbing-specific).
- A basic understanding of tools and their uses.
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in plumbing.
