Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Student Affairs Director to lead our student support services in Belfast. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of student welfare, engagement, and academic success for our international student population. The Director will ensure a high-quality student experience, maintain compliance with relevant immigration and educational regulations, and lead a dedicated team of student support professionals. You will be instrumental in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, addressing student concerns, and developing initiatives that enhance student life and academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor the student support team, fostering a culture of excellence and empathy.
- Develop and implement comprehensive student welfare programs, including orientation, pastoral care, and academic support services.
- Ensure full compliance with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations, safeguarding duties, and other relevant policies pertaining to international students.
- Manage student grievances, disciplinary procedures, and crisis intervention, providing appropriate guidance and resolution.
- Collaborate with academic teams, admissions, and external partners to ensure seamless student transitions and support.
- Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for the student affairs department.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for student satisfaction, retention, and success.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the student body and staff.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for external agencies and student representative bodies.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership experience in student affairs or a related field within an educational setting.
- In-depth knowledge of UKVI compliance and international student regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Experience in crisis management and student welfare support.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Counseling, International Relations, or a related field.
- Experience working with international student populations from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Proficiency in an additional language.
- Experience in developing and implementing student engagement programs.
