Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) to join our primary care team. This role involves providing comprehensive medical care to patients, diagnosing and treating various conditions, managing chronic diseases, and promoting preventative health. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring excellent patient outcomes and contributing to the overall health of our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general medical services, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Conduct patient consultations, examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments as appropriate, adhering to national and local guidelines.
- Refer patients to specialist services or secondary care when necessary.
- Participate in preventative health programs, including immunisations and health screenings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using our electronic health record system.
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
- Engage in continuous professional development and clinical governance activities.
- Contribute to practice meetings and service improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a Licence to Practise.
- Inclusion on the NHS GP Performers List.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultation skills.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
- Special interest in an area of general practice (e.g., women's health, minor surgery, diabetes).
- Experience with EMIS Web or similar clinical IT systems.
- Familiarity with local NHS services and referral pathways in Lancashire.
