Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Local Authority Senior Center Coordinator to manage the daily operations and programming of one of our vital senior community centers. This role involves overseeing all aspects of center management, including program development, staff supervision, volunteer coordination, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for senior participants during day hours. The successful candidate will be a leader in community engagement, committed to enhancing the lives of seniors through innovative and accessible programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the senior center, ensuring compliance with local authority policies and safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a diverse range of recreational, educational, and wellness programs tailored to the interests and needs of senior participants.
  • Supervise and mentor center staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Manage the center's budget, resources, and inventory effectively.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for seniors, their families, and community partners, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts to promote center programs and services within the community.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a safe, clean, and accessible facility.
  • Prepare reports on center activities, participation rates, and program effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in program coordination and management, particularly in a community or senior-focused setting.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services for seniors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Gerontology, Recreation Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Experience with volunteer coordination and management.
  • Familiarity with municipal government operations and policies.
