Job Description
We are seeking a talented and innovative Industrial Designer to join our dynamic product development team in Waukegan, IL. This role is crucial in transforming complex ideas into user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing designs for our medical devices and healthcare products. You will be instrumental in all phases of the design process, from initial concept generation and research to prototyping and production support, ensuring our products are not only functional but also intuitive and engaging for end-users. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct user research and translate insights into innovative design concepts.
- Develop sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, and detailed 3D models of product designs.
- Create physical prototypes for testing and evaluation of form, fit, and function.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, and regulatory affairs to ensure design feasibility and market relevance.
- Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
- Maintain current knowledge of design trends, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in industrial design, preferably within medical devices, consumer electronics, or a similar regulated industry.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360) and 2D design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong sketching, ideation, and visual communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling design solutions supported by a strong portfolio.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining).
- Understanding of human factors and usability principles in product design.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical device design (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
- Experience working in a global team environment.
