Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive In-House Counsel to join our legal team in Ipswich. This role will provide comprehensive legal support and advice across various aspects of the company’s operations in the UK. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and supporting strategic business initiatives. You will work closely with different departments, offering expertise on commercial contracts, regulatory matters, intellectual property, and corporate governance. Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on regulatory compliance, data protection (GDPR), and other relevant legal frameworks.
  • Assist in managing intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
  • Support corporate governance initiatives and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and provide accurate summaries and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel on specialized matters when necessary.
  • Develop and deliver legal training to various business units.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks across the organization's activities.

Required Skills

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial law, ideally with some in-house experience or strong private practice background advising corporate clients.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the financial services or professional services sector.
  • Knowledge of insurance law or related regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with international legal jurisdictions.
  • Master's degree in Law or a related field.
