Pets at Home is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Mobile Dog Groomer’s Bather / Assistant to join our growing mobile grooming team in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. This is an incredible opportunity to ‘learn to groom’ from experienced professionals while travelling to provide convenient services directly to our clients and their beloved dogs. No prior experience in grooming is required – we provide comprehensive training! As a Mobile Dog Groomer’s Bather / Assistant, you will be an essential part of our team, supporting our lead groomers and ensuring every dog receives a safe, comfortable, and positive grooming experience. This role involves significant travel within the local area, working directly with dogs of all breeds and sizes, and interacting with their owners. Key Responsibilities
- Safely bathing and drying dogs of various breeds and sizes in preparation for grooming.
- Assisting the lead groomer with general grooming tasks, under direct supervision.
- Maintaining a clean and organised grooming workspace, including equipment and vehicle.
- Greeting clients and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Handling bookings, payments, and client communication as required.
- Ensuring the comfort and safety of all dogs throughout the grooming process.
- Adhering to all health and safety guidelines and animal welfare standards.
- Driving the mobile grooming vehicle to scheduled appointments (if licensed and approved).
- Assisting with basic administrative tasks and inventory management.
Required Skills
- A genuine love and empathy for animals, especially dogs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mobile environment.
- Physical ability to lift and handle dogs of various sizes (training provided for safe handling).
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Must hold a valid UK driving license with a clean record for travel requirements.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills in dog grooming.
- No prior grooming experience necessary – full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic knowledge of animal behaviour or pet first aid (or willingness to undertake training).
- Familiarity with the Hanley / Stoke-on-Trent area.
