Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Local Council Tax Advisor to join our team in York. In this essential role, you will be the primary point of contact for residents regarding their council tax inquiries, payments, and account management. This is a customer-facing position that requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and a strong understanding of council tax regulations. You will be responsible for providing accurate advice, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring a positive experience for all service users. Full training on specific systems and processes will be provided, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive advice and information to residents on council tax regulations, billing, exemptions, and discounts.
- Handle incoming inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, resolving issues and escalating complex cases where necessary.
- Process council tax payments, set up payment plans, and manage account adjustments accurately.
- Maintain precise records of all interactions and updates in the council tax system.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of customer queries.
- Assist in the recovery of unpaid council tax in line with established procedures.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
- Identify and implement improvements to customer service processes.
