Job Description
Join Leidos as a Computer Vision Research Intern and contribute to the cutting-edge field of autonomous systems. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced researchers and engineers on projects involving advanced computer vision techniques for perception, navigation, and decision-making in autonomous platforms. You will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment, applying theoretical knowledge to practical challenges and contributing to the development of next-generation autonomous technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the research, design, and implementation of computer vision algorithms for autonomous systems.
- Contribute to data collection, annotation, and management for training and evaluating models.
- Develop and test software prototypes using Python and relevant libraries.
- Conduct literature reviews to identify state-of-the-art techniques and approaches.
- Document research findings, code, and experimental results clearly and concisely.
- Participate in team meetings, technical discussions, and present progress regularly.
- Collaborate with senior researchers to troubleshoot issues and optimize solutions.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Foundational understanding of computer vision principles and machine learning concepts.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Familiarity with data structures and algorithms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior academic project experience with computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV, scikit-image).
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with C++ programming.
- Knowledge of robotics operating systems (ROS) or similar platforms.
