Job Description

Join Southampton City Council as a School Bus Monitor / Aide and make a real difference in the lives of children. This vital part-time role involves supervising children during their journeys to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being. The position features split shifts, typically morning and afternoon, making it an excellent opportunity for parents seeking work that aligns with school hours or individuals looking for flexible employment. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children on school bus routes, ensuring their safety and adherence to rules.
  • Assist children, especially those with special needs, with safe boarding and alighting from the bus.
  • Maintain a calm and orderly environment on the bus, addressing any disruptive behavior appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively with the bus driver regarding student needs or incidents.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or concerns regarding student welfare to the appropriate authorities.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed during transit.
  • Provide basic first aid assistance when necessary (training provided).
