Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete all phases of the paid training program, including classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel practice.
- Operate transit buses safely and efficiently over designated routes, adhering to schedules.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with questions and directions.
- Collect fares and issue transfers accurately.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and report any mechanical defects.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company regulations, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents according to established protocols.
Required Skills
- Valid New York State Driver's License (Class D or above) and ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements during training.
- Excellent driving record with no major infractions.
- Ability to learn and apply complex operational procedures and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-service oriented mindset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Familiarity with the Brooklyn geographical area.
- Ability to speak multiple languages.
