Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Hydrology / Drainage Engineer to join our dynamic team in Wallaceburg, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of water resources and infrastructure projects across the region, while also providing full visa sponsorship for eligible international candidates. The successful candidate will be involved in the analysis, design, and management of stormwater management systems, drainage infrastructure, flood protection, and other water-related civil engineering projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for both public and private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses for various projects, including storm sewers, culverts, and open channels.
- Design stormwater management facilities, including ponds, wetlands, and low impact development (LID) features.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure designs comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, other engineers, and environmental specialists.
- Participate in client meetings and present technical findings.
- Perform site visits and investigations as required.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and project pursuit activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in hydrology and drainage engineering.
- Proficiency with hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, MIKE URBAN, XP-SWMM).
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and drafting.
- Strong understanding of provincial (Ontario) stormwater management and drainage design guidelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario, or eligible for immediate registration.
- Experience with climate change impact assessments on water resources.
- Familiarity with environmental assessment processes in Ontario.
- Project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Demonstrated experience with municipal infrastructure projects.
