Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Technical Support Engineer (Tier 3) to join our dynamic team in Grand Island, NE. This role is crucial for resolving complex technical issues, escalating problems to engineering teams when necessary, and contributing to knowledge base development. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in network infrastructure, server management, and cloud technologies. This position is open to candidates requiring sponsorship, and we are committed to supporting qualified individuals through the visa sponsorship process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of escalation for complex technical issues from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve critical system and network problems, often requiring advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventative measures.
  • Collaborate with development and engineering teams to address software bugs and infrastructure limitations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including knowledge base articles, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior support engineers.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical incidents.
  • Manage and prioritize a queue of high-severity incidents and service requests.
  • Conduct proactive system health checks and performance monitoring.
  • Implement and test solutions for system improvements and upgrades.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in Windows Server and Linux operating systems (administration, troubleshooting).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Proficiency with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex IT environments.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate).
  • Experience with ITIL framework and service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with database administration (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
