Job Description
Are you a highly motivated individual with a passion for cybersecurity and a desire to kickstart your career in a vital field? BT Group is seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Threat Analyst to join our remote night shift team. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience in cybersecurity, as comprehensive training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats, helping to protect our vast network and customer data. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools and platforms during night shifts.
- Analyze potential security incidents to determine their nature, scope, and impact.
- Escalate confirmed security incidents to senior analysts or incident response teams.
- Document findings and actions taken during the incident analysis process.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to the improvement of security monitoring processes and procedures.
- Perform initial triage of security vulnerabilities and provide basic recommendations.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work methodically.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, night shift environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in cybersecurity and a desire to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+).
- Prior experience in IT support or a help desk role.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools or security monitoring platforms.
- Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Enrolment in or completion of a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
