Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Logistics & Distribution Head to lead our operations in Charleston, SC. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics, warehousing, and distribution strategy, ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a proven track record in optimizing supply chain processes, managing large teams, and leveraging technology to enhance operational performance. You will play a critical role in driving our regional growth and maintaining Maersk’s high standards of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics and distribution strategies aligned with company goals and regional market demands.
- Oversee daily operations of warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and last-mile delivery.
- Manage and optimize a significant operational budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of logistics professionals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through process automation, technology adoption, and best practice implementation.
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and other internal departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, carriers, and other external partners.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Forecast logistics demand and capacity requirements to support business growth.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or distribution management.
- Proven leadership experience managing large operational teams.
- Strong understanding of warehousing, inventory control, transportation, and international shipping.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic logistics plans.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex global environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration (MBA).
- Professional certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or equivalent.
- Experience with port operations and intermodal logistics.
- Familiarity with lean logistics and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Bilingual proficiency, particularly in Spanish or Mandarin.
