Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Public Sector Procurement Driver for light van delivery operations based in Elk Grove, CA. This crucial role involves the safe and timely transportation of essential goods and materials to various public sector facilities, including government offices, schools, and other public institutions throughout the local region. You will be responsible for maintaining delivery schedules, ensuring proper handling of all items, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and safety. This is a full-time position requiring attention to detail and a commitment to serving our community’s needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a light delivery van to transport goods and materials to public sector clients.
- Follow established delivery routes and schedules, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
- Verify accuracy of orders against delivery documents and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles with care, ensuring items are secured properly to prevent damage.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and government regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the delivery vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status or issues.
- Assist with inventory checks and stock rotation as required.
Required Skills
- Valid California Driver's License (Class C minimum)
- Clean driving record (MVR) for the past 3 years
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiarity with the Elk Grove and greater Sacramento area road networks
- Experience with delivery route optimization software
