Job Description
Are you passionate about pet health and eager to share your knowledge? Loyal Companion in Portland, ME, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pet Food Store Nutritional Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for pet parents, guiding them through our premium selection of pet foods, supplements, and accessories. You’ll provide personalized nutritional advice, help customers make informed choices for their beloved companions, and contribute to a vibrant retail environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your love for animals with your retail sales skills, making a real difference in the lives of pets and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their pets' specific dietary needs and health concerns.
- Provide expert, personalized nutritional advice on pet food, supplements, and treats.
- Educate customers on product ingredients, benefits, and feeding guidelines.
- Assist customers in selecting the best products tailored to their pets' life stage, breed, and health requirements.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our POS system.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment, including merchandising and stocking shelves.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in pet nutrition and product offerings.
- Actively participate in ongoing training and product knowledge sessions.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve concerns, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Contribute to achieving store sales goals and customer satisfaction targets.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience in retail sales or customer service.
- Demonstrated passion for pets and animal welfare.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for POS operations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a pet-related industry (e.g., pet store, vet clinic, grooming salon).
- Knowledge of pet nutrition, dietary ingredients, and common pet health issues.
- Certification in pet nutrition or animal care is a plus.
- Familiarity with various pet food brands and product lines.
