Are you a driven student eager to kick-start your career in Environmental Health & Safety? Rolls-Royce plc in Bristol is offering an exciting internship opportunity for an EHS Intern, with a focus on OSHA principles and compliance. This role is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing hands-on learning and mentorship within a world-class manufacturing environment. You will support our EHS team in ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace, gaining invaluable experience in real-world application of EHS regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting EHS inspections and audits across various operational areas.
- Support the development, review, and implementation of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
- Help ensure compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation (e.g., HSE) and internal EHS standards, with a foundational understanding of OSHA principles.
- Participate actively in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of EHS training and awareness initiatives for employees.
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, records, and databases.
- Research and stay updated on EHS regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends to provide informed support.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated strong interest in Environmental Health & Safety principles and practices.
- Basic understanding of general health and safety concepts, with an eagerness to learn about UK legislation and OSHA principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data management and presentation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
- Proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn and take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some prior exposure or coursework related to EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Basic familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and environmental impact assessments.
- Experience with data analysis or EHS software platforms is a plus, but not required.
