Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Culinary Arts Instructor to join our esteemed faculty in Mississauga, Ontario. This role is ideal for a skilled chef with a strong pedagogical approach, eager to inspire the next generation of culinary professionals. The successful candidate will deliver engaging theoretical and practical instruction across various culinary disciplines, contributing to our reputation for excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive culinary arts curricula, including theory and practical lab sessions.
- Instruct students in classical and contemporary cooking techniques, food safety, nutrition, and kitchen management.
- Evaluate student performance through practical assessments, written exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback.
- Mentor and guide students in their culinary journeys, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and professionalism.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen and classroom environment.
- Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and best practices to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and professional development activities.
- Contribute to the college's community through student events, competitions, and industry partnerships.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of professional culinary experience in a recognized establishment.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and kitchen environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English; ability to communicate complex culinary concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching or training experience in a culinary arts program or vocational setting.
- Red Seal certification or equivalent international professional culinary qualification.
- Experience with diverse culinary traditions and global cuisines.
