Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced AO5 Project Lead to join our Environmental Protection team in Ipswich. This pivotal role involves leading a diverse range of environmental projects from conception through to successful completion. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects meet their objectives, adhere to regulatory standards, and deliver significant positive impacts on the local environment and communities. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a tangible difference in environmental safeguarding and enhancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage environmental protection projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Manage and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, local communities, and contractors.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports, presentations, and updates for senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, conducting regular reviews and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable project management experience, preferably within an environmental or public sector context.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects with multiple dependencies and stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of environmental legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Proficiency in standard project management software and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications/experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A recognised project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM PMQ).
- Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or environmental data analysis.
- Knowledge of local environmental challenges and community engagement strategies specific to Suffolk.
- Previous experience working within a government agency or similar public sector organisation.
