Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Site Safety Marshall to join our major construction project team in Wagga Wagga, NSW. This critical role involves actively monitoring work sites, ensuring strict adherence to WHS regulations, and fostering a proactive safety culture among all personnel. You will be instrumental in identifying potential hazards, implementing preventative measures, and conducting regular safety inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ensure all personnel and visitors comply with site-specific safety rules and WHS legislation.
- Deliver site safety inductions and toolbox talks to new and existing workers.
- Monitor work practices to ensure safe operating procedures are followed for plant, equipment, and tasks.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and help implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records and prepare regular safety reports.
- Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication and engagement with site personnel.
- Respond promptly to safety concerns and provide immediate guidance and support.
- Oversee the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the site.
Required Skills
- Australian Construction White Card (or equivalent WHS General Induction for Construction Work)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
- Excellent observational skills with a keen eye for detail and potential risks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence site personnel.
- Ability to enforce safety procedures firmly and fairly.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Previous experience as a Safety Marshall, Coordinator, or similar role on a major construction site.
- Experience with safety management systems and incident reporting software.
