Job Description
We are seeking meticulous and highly motivated individuals to join our team as Remote Subtitle & Caption Writers. This is a 100% remote, work-from-home position where you will be responsible for creating accurate and synchronized subtitles and captions for a diverse range of video content. You will watch videos, type out dialogue and descriptions, and ensure timely delivery, contributing to making our content accessible to a wider audience. Full training on our tools and processes will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for those looking to start a career in media localization or remote data entry.
Key Responsibilities
- Watch video content carefully to transcribe dialogue and relevant on-screen text.
- Create accurate, grammatically correct, and well-timed subtitles and captions.
- Ensure captions adhere to specific style guides and accessibility standards.
- Synchronize captions precisely with audio and video.
- Review and edit your own work and potentially work from existing transcripts.
- Manage your workload effectively to meet daily and weekly deadlines.
- Communicate any issues or ambiguities encountered during the captioning process.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language (grammar, spelling, punctuation).
- Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in typing and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with various video content genres (e.g., documentaries, dramas, news).
- Experience with subtitle/captioning software (e.g., Aegisub, Rev, Amara) is a plus but not required.
- Understanding of accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG) for captions.
- Previous remote work experience.
