Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Public Lands Groundskeeper to join our Bozeman City Parks and Recreation Department team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals passionate about outdoor work and contributing to their community. You will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and safety of Bozeman’s beloved public parks, trails, and green spaces. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine groundskeeping tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, and weeding park areas.
- Plant, cultivate, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Remove litter, debris, and fallen branches from parks and trails.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance of park facilities, playground equipment, and irrigation systems.
- Ensure public areas are safe, clean, and accessible for all users.
- Report any hazards, damage, or issues to supervisors promptly.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and operate groundskeeping equipment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety practices.
- Valid Montana Driver's License or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or outdoor manual labor.
- Knowledge of basic plant care and horticultural practices.
- Experience operating small engine equipment.
