Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Hospital Porters. This is an entry-level, full-time position where full training will be provided to ensure you have all the skills needed to excel. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in the smooth running of our hospital, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies throughout the premises. This role is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, offering the chance to make a real difference to patients’ experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely between wards, departments, and operating theatres, using beds, wheelchairs, and trolleys.
  • Move medical equipment, laboratory specimens, pharmacy supplies, and clean/dirty linen.
  • Deliver and collect mail, parcels, and other hospital items.
  • Assist with patient transfers, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to requests from medical and nursing staff.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and hospital policies.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move patients/equipment safely.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • No previous experience required – full training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including nights and weekends if required.
