Job Description

Are you passionate about community safety and eager to make a tangible difference? Bradford City Council is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Civil Defense Volunteer Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity for someone with little to no prior experience in coordination, but with a strong desire to learn and contribute to vital community preparedness efforts. You will play a crucial role in supporting our Civil Defense volunteers, ensuring they are well-organized, trained, and equipped to respond effectively to local emergencies and community initiatives. Full training and mentorship will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new Civil Defense volunteers.
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of volunteer shifts for training and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer contact information, availability, and training certifications.
  • Help organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops for volunteers.
  • Communicate effectively with volunteers, providing updates and gathering feedback.
  • Provide administrative support to the Civil Defense team.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing communication materials to volunteers.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with volunteer work or community service (personal or professional).

  • Knowledge of the Bradford district and its communities.
  • Full UK driving license.
