Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated RF Engineer to join our network operations team in Birmingham. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, optimization, and performance management of our cutting-edge wireless networks. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality mobile services to our customers through meticulous planning, testing, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize RF network coverage, capacity, and performance for 2G/3G/4G/5G technologies.
- Conduct RF network planning, including site surveys, propagation model tuning, and parameter optimization.
- Perform drive tests and post-processing analysis to evaluate network performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex RF network issues, including interference, dropped calls, and slow data speeds.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network deployment, operations, and field engineers.
- Develop and implement RF engineering best practices and standards.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations on network performance and project status.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in RF engineering.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in RF planning, design, and optimization for cellular networks (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G).
- Proficiency with RF planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or similar.
- Strong understanding of RF propagation principles, antenna theory, and link budgets.
- Experience with drive test tools (e.g., TEMS, Nemo) and post-processing software.
- Knowledge of various cellular technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G NR).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications.
- Experience with network virtualisation and cloud-native network architectures.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis and automation.
- Project management experience in a telecommunications environment.
- Relevant industry certifications.
