Job Description
The Hop Yard Danbury is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Craft Beer / Bottle Shop Advisor for evening shifts. This is an on-site, part-time position perfect for someone with a genuine passion for craft beer and a desire to provide outstanding customer service. As an Advisor, you will be the face of our shop during critical evening hours, guiding customers through our diverse selection, assisting with purchases, and ensuring our shop remains a clean, organized, and inviting space. Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and engage customers, offering personalized recommendations based on their preferences.
- Educate customers on different beer styles, breweries, and new arrivals.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and handle transactions, including cash and card payments.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandise on shelves and in coolers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the sales floor, backroom, and restrooms.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate low stock items to management.
- Check customer IDs to ensure compliance with legal drinking age requirements.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
- Participate in regular product knowledge training and tastings.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for craft beer and a willingness to continuously learn.
- Reliable and punctual, especially for evening shifts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to lift and move cases of beer (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or a customer service role.
- Knowledge of different craft beer styles, breweries, and the brewing process.
- Cicerone Certified Beer Server certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with POS systems.
