Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate UX Writer to join our dynamic team. As a UX Writer, you will be instrumental in shaping the voice and tone of various software products, ensuring users have clear, concise, and helpful guidance throughout their journey. You will work closely with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to create content that not only communicates effectively but also enhances the overall user experience. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of user psychology, and the ability to translate complex concepts into simple, engaging language within the context of a creative agency delivering solutions for software products.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and proofread all user-facing text for software products, including UI labels, tooltips, error messages, onboarding flows, and microcopy.
- Collaborate with UX designers and product managers to define content strategy, ensuring it aligns with product goals and user needs.
- Develop and maintain content style guides, glossaries, and tone of voice principles for various products.
- Participate in user research, usability testing, and content audits to inform and validate content decisions.
- Advocate for user-centered design and clear communication across all product touchpoints.
- Work with localization teams to ensure content is culturally appropriate and linguistically accurate for global audiences.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our internal UX writing processes and best practices.
Required Skills
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong command of grammar and style.
- Proven ability to simplify complex information into clear, concise, and user-friendly language.
- Understanding of UX principles and how content contributes to the overall user experience.
- Experience working with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) to integrate content directly into prototypes.
- A portfolio demonstrating examples of UX writing, microcopy, or other relevant content creation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, HCI, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in UX writing, content design, or a similar role, preferably within a creative agency or software product environment.
- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and best practices for inclusive content.
- Experience with A/B testing or other data-driven approaches to content optimization.
- Knowledge of information architecture principles and content management systems.
